I gave in…

I bought Cultured Code’s Things. The new update has refreshed my confidence in the company and the app itself has become so ingrained in my daily routine it’s becoming hard to remember how I managed before.

With its accompanying iPhone app, I can lug around my notes and todos without worrying about cloud sync and force-syncing my way into my ToodleDo account, which is how I got sync before with my convoluted OmniFocus+ToodleDo setup. Things Mac and Things iPhone sync over wifi at home in the morning, and I’m good to go for the day. If I’ve made changes on the iPhone during the day, I sync again when I get back home. It’s labor-intensive, but it means I have complete control over what goes where. It’s also easy to repair mistakes or mis-filings.

The iPhone app (v1.3.5 at the moment) can also recognize phone numbers and launch the Phone application, which is hella cool (watch me drool, there…). Apparently, you can also answer incoming calls while you’ve been entering todos and the app will remember where you were at when you relaunch it. Admittedly, this has never been a problem for me. Maybe I’m just not busy enough.

I only have positive things (hah!) to say about this one for now. I know some people have had complaints about stability and sync, but I’ve never had any problems. I suppose I’m one of the lucky ones.
